Abstract
This research work aims at investigating the role of Pidgin as a means of communication in unifying students. It examines the level in which Pidgin is been used in University of Benin. It also examines student’s attitude towards Pidgin in the University of Benin. It still examines the role in which Pidgin play in bringing about unity amongst students. Furthermore, this study discusses the communication gap that Pidgin bridges. Primary and secondary sources were utilized for data collection. The primary source of data was through questionnaire given to some students of Hall 1 and Hall 4 in the University of Benin. Secondary data were collected from textbooks written by some scholars like Prof. Ayo Bamgbose and his likes and also, internet was also explored for some information. The communication accommodation theory of 1973 was adopted to analyze this work. It was found from the study that Nigerian Pidgin has really gone a long way in facilitating and fostering communication amongst students of the University of Benin.
