ABSTRACT
This study was conducted in Orhonmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria to assess the roles of local Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) in promoting community development. The study had examined various roles played by these organizations in order to promote living standard of the beneficiaries. The study was carried out using field collection and review of other secondary data sources. In collecting relevant information for the research, two sets of questionnaires were used and a focused group discussion guide was also used to extract information. Twenty FGDs were conducted in 20 communities while, 200 beneficiaries and 15 Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) were used to respond to the research tools. Completed questionnaire were subjected to statistical analysis and results were presented in chapter four of this report.
