The survey design was used with the aid of a multi-itemed questionnaire. The sample of the study was 600 citizens of Benin City. The same was selected using the simple random sampling technique. Data obtained were analysed with the aid of frequency tables and simple percentages. The findings revealed that majority of the citizens are well exposed to and make use of modern technologies in their daily communication. Majority of the citizens also confirmed that modern technologies eases two way communication and also reduces the stress of traditional communication, fasten their jobs etc. even though incessant power failure, lack of ICTs materials and network failure may hinder them from using modern technologies effectively in communication process. Therefore this study recommended that the use of modern technology should be encouraged since it makes two-way communication easier, reduces the stress of traditional communication systems and also fastens jobs. It was also recommended that governments parastatals and NGOs should set up more campaigns to advance the knowledge of local citizens and expose them to more effective communication tools and technologies.
