ABSTRACT
This research aim to evaluate how the Nigerian film industry portrayed Nigerian culture and historical events on a global scale. Specifically, it explored how Nigerian film projects showcased the distinctiveness of Nigerian culture and traditions to the world and assessed the accuracy of their portrayal of historical events that shaped the nation's identity. Nollywood films were chosen as the focus due to their alignment with Nigerian cultural values and their prominent position in the African film industry. The study was essential because Nigeria had faced negative image representation internationally and the erosion of indigenous cultures. To achieve its goals, this research utilized content analysis to examine selected films. Ultimately, it recommended emphasizing consistency in depicting the rich cultural values of Nigeria rather than mimicking Western culture or dwelling on outdated cultural practices that no longer aligned with contemporary Nigerian society.
