ABSTRACT
The topic of the study was the Role of Entrepreneurial Development in the Economic Growth of Nigeria. The study observed the research problem of lack of finance for entrepreneurial businesses which limited their contribution to the economy of Nigeria (Benin City inclusive). The general objective of the study was that it analysed the effect of Entrepreneurial Development on the Economic Growth in Nigeria. The study used descriptive method in its analyses. The Findings of the study confirmed the roles of entrepreneurs as good drivers of economic growth in the country, it established that entrepreneurship reduces unemployment, improves Nigeria workforce and facilitate economic growth. The study further found out that entrepreneurship is key to poverty eradication and strategy for rapid economic growth. Other findings of the study included that the major hindrance inhibiting entrepreneurship as a growth driver in Nigeria include poor infrastructural facilities, inadequate start-up process, and access to finance. The study recommended that reforms ininstitutions such as the education system’s curriculum are necessary to encourage and promote entrepreneurial activities because it servesas the keyto self-reliance, improves Nigeria workforce and facilitate economic growth, and also there should be adequate economic policy coordination throughout each fiscal year to achieve policy stability.
