ABSTRACT

This study investigated the role of early intervention programs in improving literacy outcome for secondary school children with dyslexia in oredo local government of Benin City. Four research questions were formulated to guide the study. The study adopted survey research design. A total of one hundred and eighteen (118) dyslexic students make up the population of study using the simple sampling technique. The research instrument for the study was a questionnaire titled “ The Role of Early Intervention Programs in Improving Literacy Outcome for Secondary School Children with Dyslexia in Oredo Local Government of Benin city (REIPILO)”, which was distributed to the respondents and collected immediately after completion from respondents. The data gotten from the research was analyzed using mean and standard deviation which was used in computing the responses of the questionnaire items. To account for the reliability of the study, the Cronbach Alpha (a) was used which gave a value of 0.789. The findings shared light on the great impact that early intervention programs would help the children with dyslexia in improving literacy outcome.
