ABSTRACT
This study investigated The Role of Early Childhood Education in the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals on Public Primary Schools: Case Study Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The purpose of the Study was to find out the relationship between early childhood education and the implementation of sustainable development goals; how teachers experience play a role in implementing the SDGs; the challenges faced by teachers in implementing the SDGs. To achieve this aim three (3) research questions were raised. Descriptive survey design was used for this study, the population of this study consisted of all the teachers in public primary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, the sample size was 60 teachers. The instrument uses for data collection was the questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaire was ascertained using test- retest method. Thereafter the Pearson Product Moment Coefficient (Pearson) was used to determine its level of reliability. A correlation co-efficient of 0.76 was obtained and it showed that the instrument was reliable. The major findings of this study revealed that early childhood education plays a significant role in the implementation of sustainable development goals in public primary schools, based on the findings the following recommendations were made, ensure that sustainable development goals (SDGs) are integrated into early childhood education curriculum, provide comprehensive training for early childhood educators on how to effectively teach and incorporate SDGs into their teaching methods, and educators should take more initiatives to promote the role of early childhood education in achieving the SDGs.
