ABSTRACT
This research is concerned with the role of audio-visual aids as tools in the teaching and learning of pre-school children in kubwa-bwari area council of Abuja. The investigation aimed to address three research questions, with all three thoroughly addressed and subsequently subjected to testing. The research employed a descriptive survey design. For the purpose of this study, a sample size of 100 respondents was randomly selected from a pool of five teachers per school. This selection included a balance of 20 schools among public and private schools within the specified geographical area. A questionnaire titled "The role of audio-visual aids in the teaching and learning of pre-school children in kubwa-bwari area council of Abuja" was employed as the primary instrument for data collection. The collected data underwent analysis utilizing statistical measures such as frequency counts and simple percentages. The study’s findings revealed that audio visual aid have a significant impact on a child’s academic development, cater to diverse leaning styles, it can aid the developmental critical thinking, problem solving and creativity. As a result of several recommendations given, government entitles, education planners and school management should endeavour to work together to ensure the availability of audio visual aid in pre-school classrooms.
