ABSTRACT
The study was carried out to determine “the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing library services”. The primary purpose of this study is to identify the types of artificial intelligence technologies utilized in improving library services. To assess the impact of artificial intelligence applications on enhancing various aspects of library services, including efficiency, accessibility, and user experience. To investigate the challenges faced in the implementation and utilization of artificial intelligence for enhancing library services, including technological limitations, ethical considerations, and user acceptance issues. The population of the study consist of one hundred and ninety-six (196) Librarians from 5 libraries in different higher institution in Edo state. A sample of one and ninety six Librarians (196) will be selected for this study using a censor sampling technique. In applying the censor sampling technique all respondents in the population of the study will be selected to participate in the study. This study investigated the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing library services. Three (3) research questions guided the study, providing valuable insights into the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing library services, Types of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing Library and Impact of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing Library Services The population of the study consist of one hundred and ninety-six (196) Liberians from 5 libraries in different higher institution in Edo state, the convenience sampling technique was used to select all the respondents to represent the study. A structured questionnaire was used to retrieve data from the respondents. The following recommendation were made: Investment in AI Infrastructure and Expertise: Libraries should prioritize investments in AI infrastructure, tools, and expertise to harness the full potential of AI technologies. This includes deploying robust computational resources, acquiring AI-powered software solutions, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and experimentation among library staff. Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Libraries should actively collaborate with industry partners, academic institutions, and professional associations to share best practices, resources, and experiences related to AI implementation in library services. By leveraging collective expertise and resources, libraries can accelerate innovation, mitigate implementation challenges, and foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the profession.
