ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the Role of adult education programmes in promoting digital literacy among adult learners in Benin Metropolis, A descriptive survey research design was employed in this study. Four(4) research questions were raised to guide the study. The target population of the study consist of four hundred and sixty-nine(469)adult learners in Benin Metropolis and with sample of total population of forty-eight(48) Adult learners in literacy centres in Benin Metropolis were selected using simple random sampling techniques. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by the researcher's supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Adult and Non Formal Education;while the test-re-test reliability method was adopted to ascertain the reliability of the instrument. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation.Based on the findings of the study, the following recommendations were made for the study:Government should get more involved in the employment and screening of facilitators to make sure that the right calibers of personnel that are skilled in the use of ICT are involved. The facilitators need to be constantly trained and retrained on the use of ICT for delivery of learning process.
