ABSTRACT

Death which is not only considered as the End or cessation of one’s life on earth but it’s also seen as one of the rites of passage. We must not fail to bear in mind the pain in which death causes to the bereaved. Death which is considered an inevitable domain of humanity, as man was not created to be immortal he is meant to exists for a while and passes away to the afterlife. Death which is nothing but a passage to the world of the great ancestors where a new and better life begins provided that all burial rites which justifies the deceased at the last Judgment are fully carried out by the bereaved of the deceased. Death opens the door to the world beyond and certain qualifications gets one into the world of the ancestors by proper burial rites.

However, Traditional Autopsy will be studied in the culture of the Ekpoma people of Edo state to ascertain the reason and purposes by which Traditional autopsy.
