THE RELEVANCE OF SOCIAL WORKERS IN COMBATING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN UZEBU QUARTERS, OREDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE.

ABSTRACT

This study is to identified the relevance of social workers in combating domestic violence on women in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. This study employed the descriptive survey research design with the use of structured questionnaire which contains the causes, consequences and relevant legislative frame work. The population and area covered by the study shows that social workers respond to women that are faced with domestic violence by linking them with the appropriate authorities. Recommendation was made for government and non-governmental institution to put machinery in place for women and girls who are victims of violence, so they can feel free to report acts of violence against them in a safe and confidential environment.
