Summary

This study aimed at examining the problems and Prospects of Women in

Managerial Positions in Edo State.

To achieve this aim, five objectives and five hypotheses were formulated. However, three hypotheses were derived from the statement of the problems to facilitate the data analysis. The study was restricted to staff of the sampled Ministries and Government Parastatals in Edo State. The simple random sampling method was used to select 250 respondents from among the staff of the selected Ministries and Parastatals in Edo State; out of which only 170 participated actively. To test the hypotheses, data were collected with the aid of Questionnaire: the data generated through the instrument were analyzed using the simple percentage. Related documents and literatures were utilized to elicit information for this study.

The study revealed that cultures and traditions practices on the part of Government is the problem of female engaging in managerial positions in Edo State

Furthermore, the study revealed that lack of motivation and encouragement of female staff of the selected Ministries and Parastatals also contributed to the dwindling number of female fronting for higher positions.
