Abstract
The study examined the problems and prospects associated with the teaching of Ika translation in ika-north secondary schools in Ika local government area, Delta State. The research design adopted for this study was the survey design. The survey research requires systematic collection of data or information from the population or sample of the population through the use of personal interview. The survey research was used to examine the opinion of secondary school teachers in Delta State on problems and prospects of teaching Ika translation in secondary schools. The instrument used by the researcher to gather data is questionnaire designed by the researcher. The questionnaire is divided into three sections A, B, and C. The framework adopted here and proposed for the teaching of Ika translation is the Task-Based-Language-Teaching. The problems found were; lack of well trained teachers, lack of interest in the language by both teachers and students, among others while the prospects found were: a better understanding of the language, the preservation and vitalization of the language among others.
