The primary aim of this study is to investigate the challenges of effectively teaching and learning Home Economics in tertiary institutions, with a focus on the University of Benin. A survey design was utilized, and participants were selected from the Department of Vocational Education at the University of Benin using convenience sampling. Structured questionnaires were distributed to the participants, collected, and validated for the study. Data analysis was conducted using simple percentages, frequencies, and tables. The findings revealed that factors such as inappropriate and ineffective teaching methods, lack of well-equipped laboratories, and students' poor study attitudes hinder the effective teaching and learning of Home Economics in tertiary institutions.
