ABSTRACT
This project is an attempt on intralingua translation in Edo language, using ‘Itan Edagbon mwen’ as case study. An attempt was made at updating the orthography in which the book was written in 1972 into the present working orthography of Edo language. This work is divided into five chapters.
Chapter one entails the background to the study which contains introduction, language of study and its people, methodology, purpose and significance of study.
Chapter two focuses on review of relevant literature, were some previous works that has been on translation and intra-lingual translation were discussed. Concepts relevant to the study were also defined according to scholars in their various fields, as they relate to the present study and it is concluded with the concern of the present study.
Chapter three focuses on the theory that has been adopted for the study under theoretical frame work.
