This study focuses on the place of religion in language preservation among the Úmùezopi people. The aim of this research work is to look into how religion is used to promote language preservation among the Úmùezopi and to identify and analyze the intricate relationship between religion and language. The method used in carrying out this research was both primary and secondary. The data for this study was collected using an oral interview with traditional religion worshippers. The data was collected from residents who were solely active in traditional religion worshipping. The sociology of language and religion theoretical framework was employed in this research for the analysis of the data. The analysis of the data reveal valuable insights into one of the ways in which religion plays a key role in preserving language and contribute to the vitality of the Igbo language. The study concludes that through activities such as religious practices and ceremonies, language can be preserved and passed on from generation to generation. The study is recommended to religious leaders, community leaders, educators, and researchers interested in language preservation.
