ABSTRACT
This study examined the place of music in Nigerian festivals: Igue festival of Benin people, Edo State in perspective. The research considered the use of music in Nigerian festival and the impact of music on festival in Nigeria. The findings of this study have important implications for the use of songs in festivals and the ways to perform and preserves these songs. The study’s findings have important implications for the use of songs as a means of communication as well as a tool to foster peace and unity amongst the people. This project is aimed at promoting the beauty of Nigerian culture and heritage through its music and festivals, the research aims to contribute to the growth and preservation of Nigerian cultural heritage with a particular emphasis on the Igue festival of the Benin people in Edo State, Nigeria.
