ABSTRACT

Several continuous lifetime distributions have been introduced to model real life data sets. Many new distributions have been generated by different methods in recent decades. Some of the methods are; Method of quantile which generated the normal-Weibull based on the quantile of the Cauchy distribution, normal-Weibull based on the quantile of the logistic distribution ;Method of adding parameter(s) to an existing distribution which generated the Exponentiated Weibull distribution. In this study, the T-X (Transformer-Transformed) method was used in generating, constructing and developing the Paralogistic-Weibull distribution as a new lifetime distribution for modelling real life data. The derivations of some of its statistical properties as well as estimation of the parameters using the Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) method was discussed. The distribution was applied to real life data sets to showcase the flexibility of the distribution. The results from analysis carried out on two data sets showed that the Paralogistic-Weibull distribution outperforms the other distributions it was compared with using the different discrepancy tests and criteria.
