This research seeks to enlighten and preserve and visually represent the origins of Queen Idia aka “IYOBA”. Most people would have heard and read so many tales about the Queen Idia, the woman visually represented in the bronze and ivory mask, N’iye Esegie, but many wouldn’t have heard of her background and origins. This painting project is to produce a painting to educate and preserve the knowledge and origins of Queen Idia. The researcher utilized acrylic and oil colors on canvas to create the composition for this painting project. The process involved constructing a stretcher, stretching the canvas, and priming it. Additionally, it encompassed creating a miniature sketch and transferring it onto the main canvas. The painting exercise consisted of multiple stages and steps, culminating in the detailed rendering of figures.
