ABSTRACT
Politics, disloyalty, oppression and division due to tussle for power and leadership seemed to have characterized the Indigenous Pentecostal Churches in Nigeria particularly in the last two decades of the twentieth century. The factors responsible for the occurrences in the Nigerian indigenous Christianity in recent times could be traced to doctrinal practices, leadership problems, gender and cultural discrimination, different interpretations and manipulations of prophetic gifts and revelations. Some churches pioneers have been accused of playing double standard in the running of church affairs as well as falsifying biblical teachings which resulted at some point in time to fake revelations. This impeded the church’s growth and expansion both in membership strength and building of churches in the 21st century.
