ABSTRACT
Animations have long been perceived as an effective tool in teaching and learning. In recent years, animation has become a powerful tool for learning and teaching, thanks to advancements in multimedia technology. The improved video quality of cartoons, the easy accessibility of animations through platforms like YouTube or Teachers tube, the widespread use of mobile devices, and the faster internet connections have all contributed to the increased production and sharing of animations. With the help of computer-mediated communication techniques, especially animation, teachers can deliver a distinct learning experience to students that can be fun, while presenting complex ideas in simpler forms The study was carried out to determine the perception of nursery school teachers on the use of animations to facilitate the learning process of nursery pupils. The instrument employed for data collection was a self-structured questionnaire validated by two lecturers and approved by the project supervisor in the Department of Curriculum and Instructional Technology. The research instrument was developed and administered to 50 nursery school teachers in Egor LGA of Edo state It was design on the ordinal scale of two points like scale ( comprising of Yes and No) and four point like scale (comprising of strongly agree, agree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree) in other to supply data as regard teacher’s perception towards the use of animations to facilitate the learning process of nursery pupils. The data from their responses were analyzed with the use of regression analytic approach of simple percentage. The findings of this study presents a favourable perception of teachers towards the use of animations to facilitate the learning process. The use of animations in the learning process of nursery pupils presents a promising approach with the potential to enrich their learning experiences and foster their cognitive development. To improve the perception of nursery school teachers the study recommended two key strategies. First it suggests professional development and training for teachers allowing teachers to be well trained to be able to utilized animations as an instructional media. Secondly it emphasize the integration of animations into the curriculum planning to encourage teachers to align the use of animations with specific learning objectives and lesson plans.
