ABSTRACT
Startups are young businesses established to disrupt their respective industries by developing a unique business plan that remedies an existing deficiency or unlocking new categories with its product. With innovation driven ideas, out of the box entrenched ways of thinking and doing business for entire industries. That is why many startups are known within their respective industries as “disruptors.” The technology startup industry is one of the fastest growing industries in Nigeria. The industry has grown so much so it has definitely had a huge increase on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the nation. This paper assesses the current effectiveness of the Startup Act; how efficient the laws are with easing the hurdles/challenges young businesses face in Nigeria. One of the challenges that the Startup Act poses is bureaucracy; which entails working with other agencies thereby slowing down the process. The solution or the contribution to knowledge, the research is to add in the field of startup regulation in Nigeria specifically to the literature on the Startup Act 2022 to help solve the inadequacies of the legal framework of the startup and the enforcement of same in Nigeria.
