ABSTRACT
Nigeria, once a united country before it was devastated by the Nigerian civil war that was fought from 1966-1970. The tribal sentiment it throw up is still frustrating the effort by various leaders, groups, individual to unite Nigeria to the level of progress witnessed in the pre-independent era. Ethnicity has dealt a strong blow to this unity and progress of the once united country. Insecurity as a result of thuggery as a fall out of Nigerian civil war sentiment has not encourage or facilitated the progress of the country. Religious sentiment that is also a fall out of the civil war has not helped matter either.
