ABSTRACT
The study focuses on a linguistics investigation of the phenomenon of language attitude of Ora secondary school students. The aim of this study is to determine the linguistic attitude of Ora secondary school students towards the teaching and learning of Ora language. This study is very important to language researchers as well as the native speakers of the language because it creates awareness on the language attitude of Ora secondary school students towards their language. The framework employed for this work is the linguistic attitude framework by Fasold (1984) which comprises of behaviorist and mentalist view. The data for this research is gotten through distribution of a total number of hundred questionnaires which were distributed to respondents from Unuata secondary school and venerable Akinluyi Memorial College in Ora community. From the data collected and analyzed, it was concluded that the attitude of Ora secondary school students in Ora towards Ora language is very low.
