ABSTRACT
This study investigated knowledge, and attitude towards corona virus disease among public secondary school students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. Five research questions were raised to guide to the study. The questions bothered on the level of knowledge among secondary school students, if boys is more knowledgeable than girls about coronal virus disease in secondary schools, attitude of secondary school student, the effect of corona virus disease in secondary schools education system in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State and secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State meet up with the federal ministry of education requirements for opening and learning facility due to corona virus disease.
A descriptive research design was employed in carrying out the study. The population for this study were made up of seventeen (17) public senior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. With student population of 5,754 (Source: Edo State Ministry of Education, 2020). An instrument titled “knowledge and attitude towards corona virus disease among public secondary school students” was used for data collection. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis namely; frequency count, simple percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The findings revealed that secondary school student in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State have little knowledge about corona virus disease, it was also noted that coronal virus disease affected Secondary school student in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State in such a way that school is no longer fun for students because of social distance. Based on the study it was concluded that coronal virus has effect on secondary school student and most student in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State possessed I don’t’ care attitude towards corona virus disease. In line with the findings, the following recommendations were made: There should be general awareness of the students on the need for positive attitude and high level of knowledge towards corona virus disease. This can be achieved through enlightenment campaigns, using the print and electronic device. Also, School authorities should create laws to punish student that do not obey the covid 19 rules and regulation in the school premises.
