ABSTRACT
The resolution of the Bakassi Peninsula conflict through the International Court of Justice (ICJ) represents a significant milestone in international conflict resolution. The case underscores the potential of international law in addressing long-standing disputes between nations, while also revealing the complexities and challenges associated with implementing legal judgments in politically sensitive contexts. This chapter synthesizes the findings of this study, evaluates the ICJ’s effectiveness in resolving the Bakassi conflict, and highlights key lessons for future conflict resolution efforts and international peacebuilding.
