ABSTRACT
This study is based on the influence of women participation in literacy education programmes in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The purpose of the study is to determine the level of women participation in literacy Education programmes for socio-economic development in Oredo LGA. 5 questions were provided by the researcher to elicit the responses of women participation in the programmes. The main instrument used for this study was the questionnaire. To determine the reliability of the instrument, test re-test technique was employed. The method of Data analysis was the simple percentage and frequency counts. From the study it was discovered that women participation in literacy education programme is in low trend; with a low degree of awareness. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that women should be motivated to participate in the literacy education programmes and government should allocate funds to the programme so as to enable them acquire the necessary facilities for learning.
