ABSTRACT
The study sought to investigate the role of information communication technology (ICT) in the teaching and learning of History subject in Senior senior secondary shools in Oredo Local Government Area. The descriptive research design through the quantitative approach was used in the study. The convenience and purposive sampling procedure were used to 200 year 2 (two) Senior Secondary School students and 12 Senior Secondary Schools History teachers. A self-developed questionnaire for teachers and students was used to collect data for the study, and the gathered data was analyzed using percentages, frequencies, means and standard deviations. It was revealed in this study that, ICThelps to remove the abstractness of the History subject, develop critical thinking skills, helps to overcome physical limitations during delivery of the subject matter, helps to develop positive attitude to enable students’ function well in the society, encourages active participation of students in History lessons, and helps stimulate students’ interest to learn and understand History.
