ABSTRACT
The research investigated the impact of teachers' job satisfaction on the academic performance of students in public senior secondary schools within the Ovia North East local government area of Edo State. The study encompassed twenty-eight public senior secondary schools in the specified region, with a sample size of 140 students chosen from fourteen schools. Descriptive research design was employed, and data were gathered through a questionnaire developed by the researcher. The instrument's reliability, determined by the test-retest procedure, yielded a coefficient of 0.72 using Pearson's Product moment correlation coefficient. Mean ratings were used for data analysis. The findings indicated that both teachers' job satisfaction and students' academic performance were at a moderate level in Ovia North East local government area of Edo State. The study revealed a significant influence of teachers' job satisfaction on students' academic performance in the specified region. Consequently, it was inferred that teachers' job satisfaction played a crucial role in determining students' academic performance.As a result, recommendations were made, including the provision of necessary materials and resources for teachers, along with public and private recognition of their efforts and achievements. Celebrating their successes, acknowledging their hard work, and offering constructive feedback were suggested to boost morale and job satisfaction, thereby enhancing students' academic performance. Additionally, it was proposed that parents and teachers encourage students to prioritize their homework, and the government should establish school libraries to foster focus and determination among students.
