ABSTRACT

This study aimed at looking at the Influence of Study Habits on the Academic Achievement of Biology Education Students in the University of Benin, Edo State. In view of the purpose of this study, five research questions were raised to guild the study. A total of one hundred (100) respondents were selected using simple random sampling technique and this was used for the study. The major instrument used for collection was a questionnaire. The data collected was analyzed using simple percentage.

The result revealed that study habits had an influence on the academic achievements of Biology students in University of Benin. It also showed that the study habits among students are reading and note-taking, choosing a conducive environment, time planning/management and the SQ 3R model among others.

Based on the findings, it was recommended that conducive environments should put in place to encourage students in their academic pursuit. Also, parents and Guardian should minimize family crisis or avoid it where possible because family imbalances could be catastrophic or detrimental to the academic pursuit of their children or wards.
