ABSTRACT
It is seen that the occupational needs of women in the literacy education programme are not being met as expected. This has made the programme not too viable for women's participation. Moreover, efforts need to be made to improve the welfare of women by introducing some basic skills into the curricular content through several strategies targeted at women.
