ABSTRACT
This purpose of this study was to find out the influence of socioeconomic status of parents on female sports participation in University of Benin. Three research question were raised and three corresponding hypothesiswere formulated at 0.05 level of significance The correlation research design was adopted for the study. The population for the study consisted of 234 faculty of education staff (Academic and Non-academic) staff in the University of Benin. The sample size of the study comprised of 117staff in university of Benin. The validity of the study was determined by the researcher’s supervisor and two other in the Department of Human Kinetics and Sports Science. TheCronbach alpha statistics result gotten from the reliability test were 0.86. The study revealed that educational level of parent’s influences female sports participation in university of Benin and more so income of parent’s influences female sports participation in university of Benin. It wasconcludethat parental level of education influences female participation in sport,it was therefore recommended that schools should try to engage parental involvement and support for female athletes
