ABSTRACT
The study is on the influence of social media as a tool for political participation on the undergraduates of University of Benin. It is aimed at discovering the extent to which undergraduates of University of Benin are influence by political messages on social media and to ascertain the attitude of the University of Benin toward political participation. It also sought to determine the influence of social media on the political participation of the undergraduates of University. The study was conducted on the Technological Determinism and Democratic Participant Theory of Mass Communication. The researcher adopted the survey design method and it was used in gathering the data for the study. The findings revealed that majority of the undergraduates of University of Benin were exposed to the campaign messages of the labour party on social media. It revealed that the political behavior of the undergraduates of University of Benin were influence, thereby making them political active.
