ABSTRACT
This study investigated the influence of social media and occupational stress on family stability among married persons in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. Six (6) research questions were raised to guide this study. Two (2) were answered while four (4) were hypothesized for the study. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted of all married persons in Oredo Local Government Area. The purposive sampling technique was adopted to select five hundred (500) respondents that formed the sample size for the study. The instrument for data collection was an adapted questionnaire. The instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Educational Evaluation and Counselling Psychology of the University of Benin. To ascertain the reliability of the instrument, the Cronbach alpha statistics was used and the reliability coefficient value was established at 0.83, 0.87 and 0.80 respectively. The data was analysed using Mean and Standard Deviation, Pearson Product Moment Coefficient and Fischer Z.
