ABSTRACT

The study was aimed at investigating the influence of principals' leadership styles on secondary school teachers performance. survey design of the correlational-type and random samplung technique were adopted for the study. The study consisted of a population of 255 principals and teachers of 8 public secondary schools from which a sample of 128 principals and teachers was drawn for the study. The data was collected using the questionnaire, instrument was validated and analyzed using descriptive statistics-frequency, simple percentage and mean scores.

The study revealed that the leadership styles of principals has an effect on the management of secondary schools as it partially improves the general administration of secondary schools and therefore promotes development. It was therefore concluded that the leadership styles of principals affect teachers performance in secondary school in Ovia North East Local Government area in Edo State.
