ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of Nigerian pidgin on academic performance of University students. Thus, the researcher used the questionnaire as an instrument for data collection. Afterwards the data was analyzed by using frequency count and simple percentage and the responses of the respondents were used to generate the results of the findings. A study was conducted with the aim of determining the reliability and Validity of the Instrument used for data collection. During the sampling process, the researcher made sure that the population of the study has English language has their second language, thus all students of Education/English language and Literature, University of Benin, Benin city were selected as the population of the study. The study was to determine the influence of pidgin English on academic performance of University students.
