ABSTRACT
The study examined how motivation affects secondary school biology learning in Ovia North East, Edo State. Research was guided by four questions. The research uses descriptive survey design. Mixed public secondary schools in Ovia North East LGA, Edo State, Nigeria, hosted the study. Basic random selection is used to choose 120 SSS2 Biology students from four mixed public high schools. The study used the influence of motivation on students' biology learning questionnaire. Validation and Pearson Product Correlation Coefficient methods yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.75. Statistics of frequency counts and simple percentage were used to analyse study data and portray it in tables. The study found that motivating tactics, gender differences, parents' high socioeconomic background, and school location affect secondary school biology students' improvement and engagement. The government should provide pre-service and in-service staff training programmes for remote schools and encourage biology instructors to employ instructional materials. Libraries, labs, and electrification should be expanded, especially in remote regions, to improve biology education.
