Abstract
Teachers are a part of every student's academic success. They mold the blocks and aid in building. Their influence is second to none; but when motivated to do their job, they do much more. The study investigated the influence of the motivation of teachers on students academic performance in public secondary schools, using Oredo Local Government Area as a case study. The findings from the study revealed that there is a high connection between the motivation of teachers and students academic performance. It showed that the unpaid salaries, ineffective facilities, poor working conditions, dilapidated buildings amongst others are some things which can affect teachers attendance in classes and further affect the students academic performance. But to cure this, it is highly important for the government to ensure the timely payment of teachers' salaries, construction of well equipped buildings and facilities, provision of the necessary materials and tools for teaching and an avenue for teachers to air their views on school systems and areas they are dissatisfied for improved academic excellence. The future of our students are of utmost priority.
