ABSTRACT
The study investigated the influence of modern technologies on students' motivation towards learning Integrated Science in senior secondary schools within Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. A total of 109 senior secondary school students from 13 public secondary schools in the region participated in the research. The study focused on examining the motivational impact of four specific technologies: Duolingo, Kahoot, Google Classroom, and YouTube. Each of these platforms was evaluated based on how their features enhanced students' engagement, learning experiences, and understanding of Integrated Science, with comprehensive discussions provided in the literature review. Data collection involved administering questionnaires to the selected students. The responses were analyzed using mean and standard deviation tables. Stratified random sampling was employed to ensure a representative selection of participants from different schools. The findings revealed that Duolingo's progress tracking, audio-based lessons, and gamified tools promoted consistent practice, effective listening, and simplified concept comprehension. Kahoot's interactive quizzes, leaderboards, and challenges created an engaging environment that improved students' understanding of science topics. Google Classroom facilitated better organization and collaboration among students, while YouTube's visual and detailed content enhanced motivation and clarified complex concepts. The study concluded that integrating modern technologies into the learning process effectively increased students’ motivation and engagement in Integrated Science. Duolingo supported consistent study habits, while Kahoot! encouraged active participation and quick thinking. Google Classroom improved the learning structure through collaboration and resource sharing, and YouTube provided visual demonstrations that enriched students' understanding. Based on these findings, recommendations were made for educational institutions to incorporate these technologies into their curricula and for teachers to utilize interactive and multimedia tools to create a more engaging and supportive learning environment.
