ABSTRACT

This long essay examines the influence of misleading advertisements on media audience. Using the primary and secondary source of data collection, the long essay expounds the basic concept of misleading advertising, its effects on media audience and the possible solutions to the negative effect such advertisements. The findings revealed that the effect of misleading sports betting advertisements on the media audience is negative and if the trend is not address, it can tarnish advertising image which could lead to the loss of trust in advertisements by the audience. To this end, the paper makes recommendations on ways through which the mass media, adverts agencies and government regulating bodies can deal with the trend.
