ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to find out student perception on the effect of broken home on the academic achievement of senior secondary school in Ikpoba Okha local government area of Edo state four research questions guided the study The study was a survey resource design the instrument for data collection was the questionnaire which comprises of 10 items design to cover student perception on the effect of broken home on secondary school student The questionnaire was given to the student and collected immediately. Data collected were analyzed using simple percentage Finding revealed that broken is when spouse or parents are separated this can affect the academic performance of the child. This issuer of broken home has caused children a lot of hardship and the trend is on the increase with the continued urbanization and westernization Children from broken home tend to indulge themselves in truancy, juvenile delinquency promiscuous behavior and these acts affect their academic performance greatly vii The researcher used a descriptive survey research technique in the work to investigate the effect of broken home on student on student performance academically.
