ABSTRACT
The study was on The Influence of Educational Facilities on the Academic Performance of Students in the University of Benin, Edo State, Nigeria. The study was conducted with the objectives among others to: determine the Influence of Teaching Facilities, Learning Facilities, Welfare Facilities, Health Facilities and Recreational Facilities on the academic performance of students in University of Benin. In line with the stated objectives, four research questions and one null hypothesis were formulated for the study. The study adopted the use of descriptive survey research design and out of the total population of 249, 100 copies of questionnaire were administered, consisting of fifty(50) 300level students and fifty(50) 400level students.Theinstrumenttagged, The Influence of Educational Facilities on Students Academic Performance Questionnaire,(IEFSAPQ) in University of Benin Questionnaire was used to collect data from respondents. This instrument was validated and a reliability index of 0.71 was obtained. Data gathered were analyzed using t-test at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study among others revealed that there is no significant difference in the opinions of students on the influence of educational facilities on the academic performance of students in University of Benin. In view of the findings, it was concluded that educational facilities remain one essential factor in the realization of the goals of education. The researcher recommended that: government and school administrators should make effort to provide teaching and learning facilities such as audio-visual aids, chairs, tables, laboratories, computers/ICT, libraries in schools/institutions in Nigeria.
