ABSTRACT
This work aims to assess the influence of e-learning on the academic performance of adult educators in the University of Benin City. A survey research design was used in the study, 516 students made up the study’s population. A questionnaire was used to analyze the obtained data, 77 students made up the sample size. To gather data from the respondents, questionnaires was analyzed and the result were computed and displayed in a table to give readers a clear grasp of the study findings. The study’s conclusion was that e-learning has a positive influence on the academic performance of pre-service adult educators in the University of Benin City.
All across the world, education is acknowledged as a strategic tool that societies require prospering, empowering their people, maintaining a competitive edge in the global economy, raising living standards, and spurring development. As a result of the increasing demand for postsecondary education and the need to ensure seamless delivery of teaching and learning, many universities, including those in Nigeria, have turned to e-learning as a strategy to improve quality, equity, and the sharing of instructional technology resources. The status of e-learning in federally funded universities was highlighted as a potential avenue for future project advancement. Learning through a network, the Internet, or a personal computer. Transferring knowledge and skills via a network is essentially what e-learning is all about. E-learning is the process of learning through the use of electronic tools. These terms are still in use today, as are other variations on e-learning like e-learning, E-learning, and eLearning.
The practice of adult education involves involving adults in structured, methodical activities that help them better understand and learn. People must continually improve their aptitude, knowledge, skills, and abilities throughout their lives. Consequently, the main goal of adult education is to guarantee that people can increase their comprehension of different concepts. Adults become motivated and interested in learning when they have needs met or objectives they want to accomplish. This research will also present the importance and meaning of adult education. Adult education also makes extensive use of distance learning, which is defined by the use of technology to replace the physical presence Adult educators are very important in the process of carrying out the aims and objectives of adult education, the extent to which the adult programme will be successful largely depend on the adult educators. Pre-service adult educators are the adult educators in training and it could be and undergraduate or a post graduate programme. The researcher was looking at those doing it as an undergraduate programme. The researcher at the end of this research should the influence of e-learning in the academic performance of pre-service adult educators in the University of Benin City.
