ABSTRACT

          The study examines the influence of digital age on the teaching of history in the universities: case study of universities of Benin. To achieve the purpose of the study, three research questions were raised and examined. The sample size for the study was made up of five departments from the selected faculty. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using frequency count and simple percentage.

 From the finding, it unveiled that digital technology has influence and transformed the teaching and learning process at the university level through engaging in visual classroom, students get access to all form information at finger tips, collaborative software as aided and influence students in doing projects works, tasks involving their academics and the establishment of distance learning where learners and tutors can teach and learn visually.

          The study recommended that the federal and state educational agencies have major roles to play in enforcing the usage of technology and relevant gadgets for effective teaching and learning of History. The education ministry should provide technological resources needed by schools and heads of institutions should introduce incentives to motivate lecturers to use technologically oriented pedagogies for their lectures.
