ABSTRACT

This study was to find out the influence of demonstration method on the learning of respiration system among biology students in Oredo local government area of Edo state.. The purpose of this study was to find out the To investigate the influence of demonstration method in learning respiratory system among secondary school students in Oredo local government area of Edo State, To determine the teachers' knowledge and insight into demonstrations methods of teaching respiratory system, and To determine the challenges that students face in the classroom in the use of demonstrations method for learning respiratory system. Three research questions where formulated to guide this study.

The design adopted for this search was descriptive survey design. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The study was carried out in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state. The sample for the study comprised of one hundred (100) students drawn from the population of study using purposive sampling techniques. The instruments for data collection in this study is questionnaire and analyzed using mean and standard deviation.

The results revealed that students understand better when they involve themselves in practical experiment, thus matching theory with practical. Some recommendation among others that; Teachers should encourage students to develops interest in Demonstrative activity by engaging them when using the method and providing instructional materials that will challenge them to be actively involved during lessons and Ministry of Education and professional organization like STAN should organize workshops, seminars and conferences for biology teacher.
