ABSTRACT
This project aims to investigate the role of infrastructural development in promoting adult participation in adult literacy programmes in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The study recognizes that infrastructure plays a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness and inclusivity of adult literacy initiatives. The research methodology includes a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches, such as surveys, interviews, and observations, to collect data from adult learners, program facilitators, and local authorities. The project will assess the existing infrastructure in adult literacy centers, including facilities, learning resources, and technological support. It will also examine the impact of infrastructural deficiencies on adult learners' participation, motivation, and learning outcomes. Moreover, the study will explore the perceptions and experiences of adult learners regarding the importance of infrastructure in their literacy journey. The findings from this research will contribute to the understanding of how infrastructural development can enhance adult participation and improve the effectiveness of adult literacy programs. The outcomes will inform policymakers, local authorities, and educational institutions about the need to prioritize infrastructural development to create conducive learning environments for adult learners. Ultimately, this study seeks to promote sustainable adult literacy initiatives that empower individuals and contribute to the overall development of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area and Edo State at large.
