SUMMARY
The impact of the mining industry to the development of Okpella, cannot be undermined. Okpella being a land blessed with abundant natural and mineral resources, makes it a haven for industrial activities. As a result of it's productive capacity, there is to be found giant companies like BUA cement, owned by Adbudsalam Rabiu; Dangote cement, and a host of others pitching their tents on Okpella soil. The numerous resources seems inexhaustible, as new industries are seen coming to feast on this treasure trove, and it never gets depleted.
The produce derived from these minerals are distributed to different parts of the nation, and even the world over. Indeed like the biblical Canaan, Okpella can be said to be "a land flowing with milk and honey" 1. It is however important to ask how much of this milk and honey is available for the consumption of it's owners? It has been seen that despite having the necessary resources to enable it rise as one of the top communities in the state, Okpella is still almost invisible in the Nigerian map. One may ask, "Is Okpella's resources a blessing or a curse?"
