ABSTRACT
The study was carried out to examine the Teachers Job Satisfaction and Academic Performance of Students in Public Secondary Schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Various related literature were used to guide the researcher in the discussion of the course of study. The design of the study is descriptive survey while the population comprises all the teachers in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State of with the total of twenty four (24) Public Secondary Schools. The sample size of five (5) selected Public Secondary Schools and seventy five (75) teachers selected from these five (5) Public Secondary Schools with 50 respondents, the instrument used for the gathering data was the questionnaire named "Teachers' Job Satisfaction and Academic Performance of Students (TJSAPS) in Public Secondary Schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Four research questions guided the study. Seventeen (17) items questionnaires were used to get information from the respondents, while the researcher administered fifty (50) questionnaires and fifty (50) were retrieved. The data collected was analyzed in tables of frequency and percentage. Based on the data collected and analyzed, the following results were obtained. The findings revealed that Teachers Job Satisfaction and AcademicPerformance of Students in Public Secondary Schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State were approximately Low. There were many factors militating against teachers job satisfaction and students' academic performances. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended that, for students to achieve a good academic performance in school there is need for teachers in public secondary school to achieve Job Satisfaction for them to be motivated, satisfied and to be able to develop the society at large in producing effective and productive individual that will make the world a better place to live.
