ABSTRACT

This study focuses on the Impact of Teachers Educational Qualification on Senior School Students in Economics in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. this study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study was 347 secondary schools and 70 teachers in Ovia North East Local Government area, of Edo State. They were sampled using the random and purposive technique. The instrument used in the study was a questionnaire titled “ Teachers Qualification and Students Academic performance in Economics Questionnaire" (TQSAPEQ) . Data obtained from the instrument were analyzed using frequency counts, mean, and statistical test. Findings from the study revealed that the level of teachers qualification has an impact on the performance of students in Economics in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. That the level of students performance in Economics is an indicator of the teacher's qualification, that there's a significant relationship between teachers qualification and students performance in Economics and also that teachers qualification affects the teaching and learning of Economics in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Recommendations were given based on the findings of the study.
